Health Food and Fair Food

Today began with adventure!

I got up around nine (it felt so good to sleep in!) and ate a quick banana. My plan was to go biking for about an hour or so, get some greek yogurt from Target I had a coupon for then head home for a real breakfast.

Well, I started down 19th Avenue and came across 5k markings on the side walk.  I decided to follow them around a section of blocks.  I'm glad I found them!  Now I don't have to measure out 5k if I ever feel like running that one day!  Convenient!  Well I followed them, then decided to look around Willmar some more.  I found the Dorothy Olson Aquatic Center with a pool, watersides and diving boards.  I also found a skateboard park and a bunch of baseball and football fields.

After a while I found myself in old downtown and biked past Potpourri Health Foods.  I saw someone walk in so I decided to go in myself.  I had asked Dean if there was an organic food store in town and he had said no, well I found one!  I looked around and it was very small but jam packed full of stuff!!  I bought some Synergy.  I have seen this several times on Peanut Butter Runner's blog.  But I had never seen it in a store so I just had to have some.

I drank it with my lunch which I made when I returned home after getting lost and having been gone for almost two hours.  I didn't realize exactly what this drink was 'til I opened it.  There were little fibers that had sunk to the bottom so I was shaking it up and when I opened it, it squirted all over my bed and jeans that I had thrown on the floor last night.  I quickly closed it again and opened it over the sink.  I didn't know it was carbonated!  And in my opinion, I didn't really like the carbonation.  I didn't like the after taste.  It reminded me of carbonated water I hated in Germany!  Bleck!  Although I plan on trying some of their berry drinks.

But I found a ton of sweet places I need to check out and got to know my new town a little better!  I can't wait to go out again tomorrow!

I also received a free magazine from Potpourri that I've thoroughly enjoyed browsing through!

Lunch was leftover hamburgers from last night's cookout smothered in Famous Dave's Sweet and Zesty BBQ Sauce with a side of two peaches sliced.

My afternoon from there on out was pretty lazy until Dean asked me if I wanted to go to the county fair.  I jumped at the opportunity to get out again.  I also missed my own county fair due to being at camp.

We headed up there and saw some pretty Minne-SOH-n things!  We stopped and watch the pig races.  That's right, they race little piggies around a track.  We are pretty hick here!

[coming down the track]

[coming out the gate]

[they even had to go over this little bridge]

Believe it or not, there were really fast!

We saw some sheep judging, rabbit judging, horses, cattle and milking cows.  We also got to watch the lumberjack show.  That was really neat!  I have some videos here to show you just how beast lumberjacks are!

After the lumberjack show it was time for the free races to begin.  I had never been to one so I joined my uncle.  It is pretty crazy!  You'd have to be crazy to do this too!  I would never be able to turn so sharply going so fast surrounded by other cars surrounded by cement walls.  It screams, "DEATH!" to me!

My favorite part was that two rows ahead of us was an old lady who was really into it!

I bought some [very unhealthy] fair food for supper: fresh cut fries and freshly squeezed lemonade.  It was a tasty treat for once a year!

I left the race early so I get this blog in, and I'm getting pretty exhausted.  I'm ready to hit the hay!
