Today was much of an improvement from yesterday!
I started out the day with Honey Nut "Scooters" (the off brand of Honey Nut Cheerios) with about a tablespoon of whole flax seeds. Did you know? Whole flax seeds have more nutrients in them than ground flax seeds. The longer the flax seeds are ground, the more and more nutrients seep out of the seeds. So we buy whole flax seeds and if we want grounds flax seeds, we ground them fresh!
I then worked out: my daily work out.
I was going to run, but I still had to shower and make a smoothie in one hour. I decided to make the smoothie and see if I had time to run after that.
I made a caffeinated smoothie! I got the recipe from Peanut Butter Runner. I started with 1 1/2 cups of kale blended with one cup of chocolate almond milk. Then I added one frozen banana, two shots of double strength coffee (it was supposed to be one shot of espresso, but I haven't an espresso machine) and six ice cubes.
I tasted it after that but thought it would be a little better if there was a bit more chocolate in it, so I added about one teaspoon of cocoa powder.
When I make this again, I would use just a tad less cocoa powder.
My mom and I split it. It was the best green smoothie that I've made so far!
I didn't have enough time to run so I showered and was off to give my guitar lesson. After that, I went into town to practice a piano duet I'm playing with Elizabeth for Easter Sunday,
I then ate my lunch in the parking lot of work: grapefruit and roasted garlic Melba Toast with hummus.
After work, I received a text from my father telling me he was in town giving blood. So I decided to give blood as well. The last two times I have given blood, I was sick afterward. So I've never been fond of it, but I decided to give it another shot. I laid down after I gave (in seven minutes) and that helped me to feel much better. My dad accompanied me to the "canteen" where I ate some trail mix and *dramatic chord* CARMEL APPLE!! It was so delicious!
We arrived home and mom had a delicious super ready for us! Brown rice with a little bit of wild rice, topped with stir fry consisting of beef cube steak, peppers and onions with a side of green beans.
It was very good and healthy!
I decided not to run because of the loss of one pint of blood. It was also pretty late and I wanted to finish this post before I went to bed.
That is all for today..
Exercise often, eat flavorfully, live well.
